Botox and FAQ
At what age should you begin using Botox?
By age 21, our skin begins to slowly lose its steady collagen and elastin production. Other internal and environmental factors may lead to premature aging of our skin as well. Botox may be used in your 20’s as a form of prevention. Receiving Botox injections even just twice a year in your 20’s may save you from prematurely forming deep lines and wrinkles that would possibly have to be treated more aggressively in later years.
In your 30’s, Botox may still be used as prevention. But some patients have formed deep lines by their 30’s if they have not used any type of preventative skin care. People in their 30’s may choose to still only be treated with Botox injections a few times a year. Combined with great at home skin care and a healthy lifestyle, Botox is a great product for anyone in their 30’s!
By age 40, most men and women have seen a more noticeable change in their appearance. Crows feet, scowl lines, and deeper wrinkles may have formed, and you may be desiring a rejuvenated and youthful appearance again. Even if you have not been using Botox for prevention throughout your 20’s or 30’s, you will still see a fantastic result in your 40’s and 50’s and beyond. Without having used Botox or any type of skin care treatments prior to your 40’s and 50’s, more units of Botox and more frequent treatments may be in order to maintain and give you the results you desire.
Some frequently asked questions and information about Botox treatments:
Injections of Botox may seem like a simple procedure to you, since it’s just a few shots. But it’s actually both an art and science that only experienced healthcare professionals should do.
There are 43 muscles in your face, and it’s vital that the person who performs your injections understands and pinpoints the correct spots to optimize your treatment. A very thin needle is used to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin into specific muscles. By carefully choosing specific muscles, Dr. Kjar weakens only the wrinkle-producing muscles, preserving your natural facial expressions.
Botox injections usually take less than 15 minutes. The number of injections you need will depend on your facial features and the extent of your wrinkles.
