J. Gregory Kjar, M.D. – Plastic Surgeon

Dr. J. Gregory Kjar is a board-certified Salt Lake City / Ogden, Utah-area plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience. His expertise has helped hundreds of patients realize their body’s fullest potential. In addition to improving the lives of hundreds of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients, Dr. Kjar has volunteered countless hours of his time to Operation Smile, a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding indigent children and young adults throughout the world. Dr. Kjar lends his reconstructive talents to bringing smiles to children through cleft lip and palate repair.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1949, he completed a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission to England from 1969 to 1971 and married Sue Marcum, a speech therapist, in 1973. Dr. Kjar received his medical training at the University of Utah Medical School, as well as Michigan’s Providence, Mt. Carmel, and Sinai Hospitals. After residency, he completed a fellowship in craniofacial and plastic surgery at the famed Mayo Clinic in Minnesota with Dr. Ian Jackson. In 1984, he received his board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Since 1988, both Dr. Kjar and Sue have been intensely involved with Operation Smile. He has been a team leader on many missions, including goodwill campaigns in the Philippines and Brazil.

While he is not in surgery, Dr. Kjar shares his time with his family and his church. He and his wife, Sue are the parents of five grown children, all married now, and have nine grandchildren.

Mallory Stahl – Master Esthetician

Mallory K. Stahl, our master esthetician, is an integral part of our Candessa Aesthetics. She is passionate about skin care and enjoys working with patients to improve their beauty. Having graduated with honors from the SkinScience Institute of Laser and Esthetics in Salt Lake City, Utah, she has kept up to date with the latest training in her field. She has received the following certifications:

Mallory has been married since 2005 to her best friend Brett. Together they enjoy skiing, snowboarding, long boarding, open water kayaking, mountain biking, and road biking. She also enjoys music and does her best to play the piano and guitar.

Jody Armstrong – Surgical Assistant

Jody has been with Dr. Kjar for 16 years. She meets each patient at consultation time and also assists Dr. Kjar in the operating room.

Debbie Porter – Office Manager

Debbie has worked with Dr. Kjar for four years. She assists patients in scheduling appointments from consultation to surgery and is available to help with any questions.
